Viscounts of the West Kingdom is an exciting new board game set in a time of great turmoil and change, as the King's reign began to decline in 980 AD. Choosing peace over prosperity, the once powerful King began offering our enemies gold and land in exchange for laying down their axes. But as poverty spread and discontent grew, many people lost faith in his ability to lead and began to seek independence from the crown. In this uncertain time, the fate of the kingdom rests in the hands of the viscounts, the powerful nobles who hold the key to the future.

As a viscount, you must be wise and decisive, balancing loyalty to the crown with the needs of the people. Your aim is to be the player with the most victory points (VP) at the end of the game. Points are gained by constructing buildings, writing manuscripts, working in the castle, and acquiring deeds for new land. But the road to glory is not without its challenges, as you must also contend with rival viscounts vying for power and resources.

You begin the game with a handful of townsfolk, but must quickly seek out more suitable talents to advance your endeavors. Each turn, you will travel around the kingdom, looking to increase your influence among the various areas of society. The game ends once the kingdom reaches poverty or prosperity - or potentially both!
